Malaysian hardwood

Rubberwood is now highly prized as a timber resource. It is a hardwood possessing extremely durable and attractive qualities well suited to furniture making. Our experience has shown that of all the imported products our Malaysian Hardwood range has been consistent in quality and workmanship.

Malaysian hardwood furniture is naturally pale cream to yellowish brown with a fine straight grain. It has great continuity and is often stained a range of colours. Malaysian hardwood is sustainably managed in plantations, making it one of the most environmentally friendly timbers used for furniture. Timber density: 640kg per cubic meter.

Malaysian hardwood comes from the Hevea brasiliensis tree, which is native to Brazil. Today plantations of this tree are grown in the tropical regions of Asia, Africa and America. This hardwood produces latex, which is harvested annually, and after 30 years when they stop producing, the trees are felled for timber.
